1/22/2019 0 Comments GUIDE FOR BUYING A PUNCHING BAGDo you want to buy a punching bag? Boxing at home has many advantages: it is another cardio than cycling or running, does not have to cost a fortune and you can enjoy yourself in your punching bag. At the moment I am saving myself for a punching bag, but because I have already done so much research about best double end bag, I thought it would be useful to share all my research with you. Buying a punching bag? 5 things to watch out for! 1. What length should your punching bag have? The length of your punching bag is important because it determines what exercises you can do. If you not only want to get loose with your fists on the bag, but you also want to kick it, it is important that you do not buy a short boxing bag. If you want to punch and kick, you really have to choose a punching bag between 150 cm and 180 cm. If you only want to punch, you can also go for a punching bag between 70 cm and 120 cm. 2. How heavy should your punching bag be? Whether you are a little lady like me or a big guy of 100 kilos: there is a punching bag for all of us. It is important that you pay attention to the weight of the punching bag when you buy a punching bag. If the bag is too light for you, you have too little resistance and the punching bag will swing back and forth. A swinging punching bag is not necessarily a big problem, but the resistance of a heavier punching bag helps you build your strength better. When bumping and kicking on a heavier punching bag you can use more power. 3. What type of punching bag do you want? There are different types of punching bags. Do you want to buy a punching bag, but you don't know which type is best for you? To give you some insight into that, I have described the two most popular punching bags for you. If you are looking for a punching bag, this is probably the first type of punching bag you look at. Traditional boxing bags are priced competitively, you might have trained with them once at your gym and you can purchase them in many places. If you prefer a boxing bag that you don't have to hang up and where you can go on with complete peace of mind, then a standing boxing bag (also called boxing pole) is for you. A standing punching bag is robust and you can make it as sturdy as you want because you can weigh the base of the boxing post. The punching bag stands on a foot that you can fill with water, sand or sometimes even gravel. It is best to select a standing punching bag that you can fill with sand or gravel, because filling your foot with water can have some disadvantages. For example, not all feet are watertight and the water may splash if you bump and kick, causing your boxing pole to 'walk' through the room. 4. How are you going to hang the punching bag? Most boxing bags come with a chain with which you can attach the boxing bag to a hook or beam. Keep in mind that you cannot simply hang a punching bag anywhere. The bag itself often weighs quite a bit (at least 20 kilos) and if you hit it or kick it, it will also move. You can hang your punching bag on a ceiling bracket or wall bracket. If you don't dare, you can also choose a standard. This does not have to cost you a fortune: you already have a standard for around € 100. Or you can of course go for a standing punching bag. 5. What should my punch bag be made of?
When you are going to buy a punching bag, you can go for quality. This is namely a purchase that you do not handle with care: you bump and kick against it regularly. You have made boxing bags from leather, canvas and artificial leather. A leather punching bag lasts longer than you do, so that is an excellent investment. A good quality leather punching bag should not tear or crack and still hangs nicely if you have been walking behind a walker for a long time. If a leather punching bag is a bit out of your budget, then a canvas punching bag is a good second choice. A canvas punching bag also lasts a long time and is very robust.
